The forward of Argentina, Lionel Messi defeated Netherlands 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out today to say hello to the World Cup’s trophy.
Both teams were requested to have penalties during extra time.
Dutch striker Arjen Robben said that they had given everything and he’s very proud of his team.
Romero saved Argentina from Vlaar and Sneijder and Messi, Ezequiel Garay and Sergio Aguero scored the points.
Since 1978 World Cup final, it’s Argentina’s second time to win over the Netherlands in nine attempts. It is Argentina national team’s honour to Alfredo Di Stefano, who was one of the greatest players of all time and passed away on Monday at age 88.
Messi received a free kick through the Dutch wall but the goalkeeper Cillessen stopped it, while Ezequiel Garay went forward at a corner.
As it rained, the Argentina was more tended to threatening side.
Maxi Rodriguez scored the fourth by his crucial spot-kick after Messi, Ezequiel Garay and Sergio Aguero.
This will be the third time to Argentina, fighting with Germany in the World Cup.
The goalkeeper of Argentina Romero told Argentines to enjoy the pleasant moment after the match.
“Enjoy the moment, we will enjoy it and we will start practising tomorrow for Sunday’s final,” he stated in an interview.
He said that he felt enormous happiness. He’s really glad with everything. Penalties were that lucky but it came as reality. He was very confident, and luckily he did well in the match.
The striker and the substitute Sergio Aguero said that the results were meaningful. Many people didn’t think that Argentina could be able to reach the final, but we knew what a good team we were in.
